Custom made exclusively for E3D, this belt has lots of aramid fiber cordage - much more than the ubiquitous no-name GT2 belt. This is what gives the belt its non-stretch properties: the extra aramid in this belt means less stretch. Another key feature is that the belt backing material is polyurethane, instead of neoprene/EPDM used in no-name belts, Polyrethane is a little stiffer giving better transmission of torque to linear motion through stiffer teeth.
Urethane is also vastly more wear resistant than neoprene/epdm backing (which is what the no-name belt uses). This means no more black dust being rubbed off at pulleys and idlers. Lastly, but perhaps most interesting, urethane has a much better damping (higher loss coefficient) than neoprene. The intent being that it attenuates what little stretch there is more quickly by absorbing the energy of deformation. This means less ringing.
