The opportunity

A drag-race chassis is a hand-built tubular space frame — hundreds of bent, mitered, and welded members, suspension pickup points, and mounting tabs whose exact positions decide how the car launches, hooks, and keeps the driver safe. Capturing that geometry by hand is slow, hard to repeat, and can’t easily be reused for the next build or a body-style variant.

How it works

We bring our professional 3D scanning service to your shop and digitize the complete chassis on-site — no fixtures, no disassembly. Our system utilizes an optical tracker rather than stick-on targets scattered across the frame, so we hold metrology-grade accuracy across an entire car-sized object, with none of the cumulative “stitching” drift that lower-end handheld scanners suffer on large structures. Your shop keeps working; we handle the data.

What we deliver

You get a clean, metrology-grade 3D model of the complete chassis — tube paths, node locations, four-link and suspension pickup points, and mounting surfaces captured in true position. Use it straight away as a reference model to design around, or as the foundation for your own reverse engineering.

Optional add-on services

Reverse Engineering — we convert the scan into editable STEP / solid CAD, ready for tube benders, laser-cut tabs, and fixtures.

Quality Inspection — deviation and weld-distortion analysis comparing the finished build against your design.

What chassis and fabrication shops use the 3D model for

  • Replicate a proven chassis with repeatable accuracy
  • Spin up new class or body-style variants from a known-good baseline
  • Design bolt-in / weld-in cage kits that actually fit
  • Build jigs and fixtures from real, as-built geometry
  • Digitally document and archive every build

Why shops work with 3DMakerWorld

On-site & on-demand

We bring professional, metrology-grade scanning right to your shop floor and turn it around fast — no crating parts up and shipping them out.

Stay on what you do best

Keep your team building fast, safe, race-winning cars. We handle the digitizing and hand you a metrology-grade 3D model.

Accuracy you can build from

From a full chassis to a single bracket, we capture large, complex parts in true position — accurate enough to build production parts and fixtures from.
