Mount it. Click once. Walk away.

The Artec Micro II is a fully automated, metrology-grade desktop 3D scanner for small objects. Mount your part on the platform, click once, and smart algorithms in Artec Studio take over — the 3-axis system (turntable plus tilting platform) automatically rotates and positions your object along the ideal scanning trajectory while you watch the model build in real time.

Four 13-megapixel cameras capture sharp edges and minuscule details from every angle, delivering point accuracy up to 5 microns (0.0002 in) with 2-micron repeatability — certified to ISO 12836. That's the tolerance level quality inspection demands, on your desktop, with no targets and no operator skill required.

Modular CNC-machined mounts hold flat parts, delicate objects, and everything between, and full-color capture — with optional photo texturing from your own DSLR — produces hyper-realistic models ready for CAD, inspection, or presentation.

Precision without the process

Metrology-grade results with the least demanding workflow in professional 3D scanning.

🎯

5-micron accuracy, certified

Point accuracy up to 5 μm (0.0002 in) with ISO 12836 accuracy certification — trusted numbers for inspection and reverse engineering.

🔁

2-micron repeatability

Scan the same part twice, get the same result — within 2 μm. The consistency quality-control workflows depend on.

🤖

Fully automated 3-axis scanning

Turntable plus tilting platform capture top and sides in a single setup. Smart Scanning Mode picks the ideal trajectory for your part.

📷

Four 13 MP cameras

Quad-camera capture sees sharp edges, deep recesses, and hard-to-view areas that single-camera desktop scanners miss.

🖱️

One-click workflow

Mount the object, click Start, and Artec Studio handles positioning, trajectory, and capture — minimal training, minimal involvement.

🎨

Full color + photo texture

Native 24-bit color capture, with optional photo texturing from a DSLR in Artec Studio for hyper-realistic models.

🧲

Modular part mounts

CNC-machined magnetic mounts — clamps, flats, and a motorized rotary mount — hold parts of nearly any shape securely.

🎯

Target-free capture

No stickers, sprays, or preparation — protect delicate specimens, evidence, and finished surfaces.

🧩

Full Artec ecosystem

Scan straight into Artec Studio; align with CAD primitives; export to SOLIDWORKS, Geomagic Design X, or Control X for inspection.

For the smallest parts and the tightest tolerances

Micro II handles objects from items you can hold between two fingers up to 200 × 200 × 150 mm (7.87 × 7.87 × 5.9 in) — with a 4,700 cm³ (≈ 287 in³) capture volume and detail resolution the human eye can barely verify.

Machined & molded parts Gears, threads & connectors Jewelry & engravings Dental models & impressions Coins & artifacts Bullets & forensic evidence Bone specimens & fossils Electronic components

Because capture is contact-free and target-free, Micro II is ideal for delicate specimens, untouched evidence, and finished parts that can't be coated or marked.

From our lab

Case study: digitizing a mink cranium at research grade

We put our own Micro II to work on a 6 cm mink cranium — capturing zygomatic arches, auditory bullae, palatal foramina, tooth cusps, and cranial sutures as a clean, watertight, measurement-ready mesh. No coating, no targets, no contact with the specimen.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Artec Micro II and what makes it different?
The Artec Micro II is a fully automated, metrology-grade desktop 3D scanner for small objects. Mount a part on its 3-axis platform (turntable plus tilt), click once, and it scans automatically — delivering point accuracy up to 5 microns (0.0002 in) with 2-micron repeatability, certified to ISO 12836, in full color, with no targets or surface preparation. It's the highest-accuracy scanner in the Artec lineup.
How much does the Artec Micro II cost?
The Artec Micro II's US list price is set by Artec 3D. A Premium Pack bundle is also available — adding a 5-year extended warranty, a 5-year Artec Studio subscription, and a 5-year Artec Care contract. As a Gold-Certified reseller we can quote current promotions and special education pricing — request a quote above for the best available price.
How accurate is the Artec Micro II?
Point accuracy is up to 5 microns — that's 0.005 mm, or 0.0002 in — with 2-micron (0.00008 in) repeatability between scans of the same object, and resolution up to 40 microns (0.0016 in). Accuracy is certified to the ISO 12836 standard, which is what makes Micro II suitable for formal quality inspection and metrology workflows.
Is the scanning really automatic?
Yes. You mount the object on the platform using one of the modular CNC-machined mounts and click Start. Smart Scanning Mode in Artec Studio selects the ideal trajectory, and the 3-axis system — turntable plus tilting platform — rotates and positions the object to capture it from all sides, with real-time feedback on screen. You can add scans or stop early if coverage is complete.
What size objects can the Micro II scan?
From tiny items you can hold between two fingers up to objects of 200 × 200 × 150 mm (7.87 × 7.87 × 5.9 in) — think machined parts, jewelry, dental models, coins, connectors, and bone specimens. For larger objects, the handheld Artec Spider II or Leo are the better fit, and data from all Artec scanners merges in Artec Studio.
Does the Artec Micro II need a computer?
Yes. Micro II connects to a Windows computer running Artec Studio, which drives the automated scanning and processes the data. Artec recommends an Intel Core i7 or i9 with 64+ GB RAM and an NVIDIA GPU with 3+ GB VRAM for the smoothest experience.
Can the Micro II scan in color?
Yes — Micro II captures full 24-bit color natively. For hyper-realistic models, you can also add texture from high-resolution photos taken with your own DSLR using Artec Studio's photo texturing feature.
Artec Micro II vs. Spider II — which should I choose?
Choose the Micro II when your objects fit on a desktop platform (up to 20 cm) and you want maximum accuracy — 5 μm — with a fully automated, operator-independent workflow. Choose the Spider II when you need to bring the scanner to the object: it's handheld, captures small-to-medium objects and fine regions of larger parts at 0.05 mm, and works anywhere. Many labs run both.
Do I need targets or surface spray?
No. Micro II scans target-free with no coating or preparation — important for delicate specimens, forensic evidence, polished jewelry, and finished parts that can't be marked or sprayed.
Is 3DMakerWorld an official Artec 3D reseller?
Yes. 3DMakerWorld is an official Gold-Certified Artec 3D Reseller — the highest tier of Artec reseller authorization — with offices in Naperville, IL and Lenexa, KS. We run a Micro II in our own service bureau and provide pre-sale consultations, hands-on demos, onboarding, and ongoing US-based support.
Is there special pricing for schools and universities?
Yes. Artec offers dedicated education packages with special pricing for schools, universities, museums, and research programs. The Micro II is particularly popular for morphology, paleontology, and collection digitization — contact us for an education quote.
