3D scan processing software that turns point clouds and raw scan data into clean, watertight polygon meshes and accurate NURBS surface models, ready for 3D printing, milling, analysis, animation and archiving.
Send us a scan or a part, and we will process it live in Wrap with you.
What is Geomagic Wrap?
Geomagic Wrap is 3D scan processing software from Hexagon that transforms point clouds, probe data and imported 3D files into polygon meshes and NURBS surface models. It cleans and repairs raw scan data, builds watertight meshes, and fits accurate freeform surfaces, so captured data can go straight into downstream use.
Wrap is the right tool when the deliverable is a mesh or a surface model rather than a parametric CAD part: a print-ready file, a model for simulation or animation, an archive of an artifact, or a NURBS body for a designer to work from. If you need an editable, feature-based solid with design history, that is Geomagic Design X.
Typical work it is bought for: preparing scans for 3D printing, milling and rapid prototyping; art, sculpture and scale reproductions; archaeology and cultural heritage archiving; FEA and CFD models; CGI and animation assets for Maya, 3ds Max and similar tools; and healthcare and product design applications.
From raw scan to usable 3D model
Artec scanners capture the object; Wrap turns the data into a clean mesh or surface model in a few guided stages, and exports it in the format the next tool needs.
Capture
Scan with an Artec scanner, drive a supported scanner from inside Wrap, or import point clouds, probe data and common formats such as STL and OBJ.
Build the mesh
Process large point clouds and construct a high-definition, watertight polygon mesh from the scan data.
Repair & refine
Fill holes, smooth, patch and remesh, then extract curves and hard features where the design needs them.
Surface & export
Fit NURBS surfaces with Auto or Exact Surfacing, then export a mesh or surface model in the format your printer, CAD or animation tool expects.

|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 8.1 (64-bit) | Windows 11 Pro (64-bit) |
| Processor | Intel or AMD, 2.0 GHz minimum | Intel Core i7 / Ryzen 7 class or better, high single-core clock |

Frequently asked questions
What is Geomagic Wrap used for?▾
Geomagic Wrap turns point clouds and raw scan data into clean polygon meshes and NURBS surface models. It is used to prepare scans for 3D printing, milling and prototyping; for art, sculpture and heritage archiving; for FEA, CFD and animation models; and in product design and healthcare.
What is the difference between Geomagic Wrap and Design X?▾
Wrap produces meshes and freeform NURBS surface models. Design X produces feature-based, parametric solid models with a design history that engineers can edit in CAD. If the deliverable is a print-ready mesh, an archive or a surface model, Wrap fits. If you need editable CAD of a mechanical part, choose Design X.
How much does Geomagic Wrap cost?▾
Wrap is offered on commercial and educational terms with Geomagic maintenance programs, and is also available bundled with an Artec 3D scanner and Artec Studio. Because license terms, maintenance and any scanner bundle all move the number, we quote rather than publish: send us your application through the form below and we will return a written quote.
Does Geomagic Wrap work with Artec 3D scanners?▾
Yes. Artec sells Wrap bundled with its scanners and Artec Studio. Wrap also works with many other 3D scanners and probe devices, either driven from inside Wrap or through imported scan data.
I already have Artec Studio. Why do I need Wrap?▾
Artec Studio captures, processes and meshes Artec scan data. Wrap adds deeper polygon editing, remeshing, Exact Surfacing with control over NURBS patch layout and continuity, scripting for automation, and support for data from other scanners and probes. If Artec Studio already produces the models you need, we would rather tell you that than sell a second license.
Which file formats can Wrap export?▾
WRP, IGES, X_T, SAT, PRC, STEP, VDA, NEU, 3DS, DXF, OOGL, IV, PLY, STL, WRL and OBJ, covering 3D printing, CAD, simulation and animation tools.
Is there a trial version of Geomagic Wrap?▾
Yes. Evaluations are available. Contact us through the form below and we will arrange one along with a walkthrough on your own data, which is a far better test than a blank workspace.
What are the system requirements?▾
The published minimum is 64-bit Windows 8.1, a 2.0 GHz Intel or AMD processor, 8 GB RAM, 30 GB of free disk space, a 1280 × 960 32-bit color display, and an NVIDIA Quadro or better graphics card. For real work with large Artec scan data we recommend Windows 11 Pro, an i7-class or better CPU, 32 GB RAM or more, an NVMe SSD, and an NVIDIA RTX professional card with 8 GB or more of VRAM.
Do you offer educational pricing?▾
Yes. Hexagon offers Wrap on separate educational terms, and Artec offers educational packages that bundle scanners with software. We quote educational, multi-seat, lab and consortium configurations. Tell us the institution and the seat count and we will put it together.
Do you provide training and support?▾
Yes. Licenses carry Hexagon support with maintenance, and 3DMakerWorld provides U.S.-based application support on top of that. We scan and process data in our own service bureau, so you are calling people who use this workflow. Offices in Naperville, Illinois and Lenexa, Kansas.
Can you just process the scan for us?▾
Yes. 3DMakerWorld runs an Artec-based 3D scanning service bureau. We can scan an object and deliver a clean, print-ready mesh or surface model without you buying any software. It is also the cheapest way to find out whether the workflow is worth bringing in-house.
